If you are willing to buy only one book for ECG learning, this book should be it. Rather expensive compared to other introductory text, but every penny you invest will count. I have tried a few introductory text to master ECG, but none of them was as easy and applicable as this text. The author is a paramedic who became physician, and he presents difficult concepts in easy way so many allied healthcare providers who doesn't have medical degree can also utilize it. ECG is complex and daunting subject to study for new learners, but by the time you finish this book and if you read it front to back carefully, you will realize you actually can read ECGs.
Great book. I've read Dubin's, and this is the next step up. If you really want to get a good grasp of EKGs, you should take the time and sit down and read through this text. Has different levels for each EKG interpretation so you can read through multiple times and take away more from each EKG every time. Can honestly say I've learned more from this book than any other EKG book/teaching module. Takes a bit longer than some of the other books but it is WORTH IT! I can now do a quick interpretation of most EKGs I encounter (which includes calculating the exact axis and z-axis) in under 30 seconds! I still have much to learn and look forward to re-reading this book a few more times!
If you want to really understand EKGs and be a complete boss whenever an EKG needs to be read, then get this book. I do not like the "review" style books even though sometimes they are necessary if you are short on time. But if you have the time, and really for a book as great as this you should make the time, then get this and truly understand EKGs. I hated the feeling of trepidation when seeing EKGs in the past. Now I see them and it's actually "fun" and I feel confident rather than apprehensive. 5/5
I purchased this book on accident not realizing it wasn't the full version and only an introduction. I have the "arrhythmia recognition" version of this book and it worked very well for me throughout the cardiology portion of paramedic class. I purchased this after paramedic class to further my knowledge. From what I read from this book it was just as good as the basic version. If you're going to spend the money to purchase this book, just spend the money to purchase the full version.
Three books in one--from elementary to advanced 12-lead. Start at level one, then advance. Learned much that was not taught in paramedic class.
This has got to be the best EKG text around. After nearly 30 years as a Cardiology RN, I am still amazed and surprise by learning even more about what the "average" EKG can tell me about my patient's status. This book has become one of best tools, in reviewing, teaching and sharing with my co-workers and students. Well done!
This book is the best EKG education I have ever found. I recommend it to everyone and have read it several times. I'm always learning something each time I read through it again.
I'd give it higher rating but felt it was overpriced (60 bucks or less would have been more appropriate )
